Foodie in Lagos Tales: Crust and Cream & Insignia Restaurant

The experiences today from readers are on Crust and Cream & Insignia Restaurant both in Lagos.   Catch up on previous experiences and see here for background on this column   Crust and Cream   “So last Sunday I went to Crust & Cream for dinner and decided to try their Pasta Chicken Carbonara instead of my usual (Spaghetti Bolognese).   The environment was very cosy and comfortable and the waiter was very attentive. My food was basically Fettuccini Pasta, Chicken, Bacon, Mushroom, Fresh Basil, Parmesan Cheese tossed with Creamy White Sauce. I have to say that it tasted really good. They […]

Delis Cafe – Sunday Lunch

Not sure why it has taken me a while to finally visit Delis Cafe but I guess, the best is always saved for last. After Y’s experience, she had mentioned that Deli’s would have offered better steak as she and her husband were regulars after church on Sundays.   This time I could not go with Y, but with a bud of mine – B to have lunch at Delis after Church :). Delis is simply Cafe.Eatery.Winery as read on the menu but its safe to say this place is really a café which is above the Delis grocery store. […]

BLD by Play, Lekki

Over the weekend, after a lot of personal errands to run, Y and I decided to try out BLD by Play in Lekki as we had never been there before and  I often get asked if I had tried it out. BLD by Play is hard to miss once you get into Admiralty Road in Lekki 1 due to its big structure which is very visible especially on the busiest road in Lekki.   BLD stands for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner and apparently have a daily buffet for about N2,000/N2,500 which is not bad I guess but that would mean […]

Foodie in Lagos Tales: So Fresh and Green Grill House

Hey Hey… Some more experiences by our readers. Be sure to catch up on the Experience I and Experience II when you can.   So Fresh Wasn’t So Fresh After All People I’m so disappointed in So Fresh. The salad I ordered was bad. Looked dry, had a funny smell like it had been in a fridge that wasn’t cooling well since Friday and today is Monday. Had a few bites & now my tummy is rumbling. Not so fresh after all plus he avocados were all bad. I am so so disappointed. Had just two spoons and the rest ended up in the […]

Brownie Batter Protein Pancakes

My Top Picks on Instagram on Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Day

Shrove Tuesday is usually the day before Ash Wednesday which is the beginning of Lent and somehow somehow got tagged as Pancake Day. I always wondered why this was called so until I read that the English tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday came about as a way to use as much milk, fats, and eggs as possible before Ash Wednesday….   Unluckily for me, I was unable to have any pancakes but I drooled over quite a number on Instagram and shared on Twitter and Facebook the IG posts that I absolutely loved on Instagram. Someone threatened to […]

Foodie in Lagos Tales – Sharing Experiences

Happy new month guys (Lol I knowwwwww…)   But this is my best month because its my birth month whoop whoop!   Anyway, at FIL we keep getting mostly personal messages about experiences of our readers at certain restaurants or establishments. Remember how I said in the post here how my friend was upset at the service and all? There was a lot more to the story but hey we are here for deets about the food and didn’t want to drive off the express.   But it got me thinking that why don’t we share the good, bad and […]

Brunching at Mansilla

So one Sunday, I went to Mansilla with my friend – Y to try it out as I never made it here when it was still called “Wott to Eat”. Glanced through the menu which is not so extensive by the way and the proper thing to have was ‘Brunch’. Everyone loves a good brunch and it seems like the perfect Sunday ritual. It had this huge space outside  and a nice garden which I liked and seemed obviously built as a proper house before its re-modelling into a restaurant. Y and I ordered the English breakfast but I wanted sunny side […]

Happy new year guys!!!   Apologies for being MIA… Been so busy on instagram and twitter instead.   A number of new places have opened up in Lagos and hopefully FIL can bring you reviews this year to help you make better choices on where to eat. In case you aren’t familiar with the score system here, do check  here to view the break down of what FIL will be looking out for regarding reviews.   Over the weekend, my friend and I went to what is now known as Sip & Bite. This place used to be called Paris Deli which was […]
