Food is one of the best things to happen to mankind, but you might not realize it if you haven’t tried some dishes. While it is easier to stick to conventional day-to-day food, we believe the beauty of food is in the variety of options you get to try. This is why we would highlight some new things we think we should try at least once – dips, spreads, and jams. The good part is you can make some of these from the comfort of your house and experiment with your taste bud.
Dips or dipping creamy are spicy sauces used to add flavors to chips, vegetables, fruits, crackers, and dumplings. Just like stuffing makes tacos and pita bread better, dips adds flavor to chips, fries, or crackers. There are over 50 flavors of dips, all of which are worth trying. But we would highlight a few common ones that would be worth your time.
GUACAMOLE is considered one of the best types of drip, it is common among Mexicans. Guacamole is made from avocado, cilantro, limes, and onions. It is perfectly paired with any type of chips, bread, etc.
SALSA is another common type of dip. Salsa means sauce so it works perfectly well being eaten with fries, eggs, or as a side dish. It consists of onions, tomatoes, and some green vegetables. It is common served in some Nigerian restaurants.
CHUTNEY is another type of dip. It is common among the Indians, it could be made from apple or ginger. Garlic chutney is made with ginger, pepper, coconut, and salt. Apple chutney is a blend of ripe apples, chili, turmeric, and sugar.
You can make all of these from the comfort of your home as previously mentioned, you could even come up with your authentic dip by trying different blends of the recipes/ ingredients above.
Jams are a sweetener made from well-boiled and mashed fruits with a large amount of sugar, they go on bread, doughnut, or bagels.
Fruits like berries, plums, and apricots make the best jam, which is why strawberry is one of the jam flavors. Depending on what flavor of jam you need to make, you need butter, lime, and the well-boiled fruit of your choice. Everyone should try at least 3 different flavors of jam in their lifetime.
Spread is like topping added to bread, sandwiches, bagels, and muffins if you would. Spreads come in different flavors and types; it could be mayonnaise, butter, chocolate, or cheese spread.
Mayonnaise spread comes in flavors like honey and mustard, and garlic mayonnaise.
Cheese spread could be crème cheese, sour cheese crème, or garlic cream.
Margarine or butter comes in fattening or non-fattening patterns.
Chocolate spread could be a mix of many things – chocolate and milk, chocolate and hazelnuts, etc.
There is also peanut butter spread.
All these flavors are worth trying once, so when next you go shopping, pick something new. If you visit a restaurant, try a new dip.
