If you are planning your party and unsure what to serve because of the occasion, this is your guide. To mention, there are quite a number of reasons Lagosians party or gather together, and sometimes, the food and drinks aren’t always perfect for the occasion. To make your next event better and memorable for your guest, we have prepared a list of appropriate drinks and meals or snacks you should consider serving.
BIRTHDAYS
Whether you are turning 10 or 59, cake is essential. What’s a birthday party without cake? Lagosians, that’s the first thing on the list for your birthday. Then, you shouldn’t miss out on adding Jollof rice to the menu. If it’s a big party, don’t forget Amala, Ofada and assorted meats with nice sodas and enough water. If you are eating out with friends, a burger isn’t a worthy meal for a birthday, kindly note.
BABY SHOWERS
Baby showers definitely deserve to have ice creams in cute baby cups, baby-themed cookies, and meals. Note the baby-themed food doesn’t have to be Cerelac, just some cute bowl of fruits, chocolates, tacos, or pancakes with sumptuous toppings.
BRIDAL SHOWERS/ ENGAGEMENT PARTIES
Food has no business in bridal showers, or engagement parties and you know. Bridal showers are brief celebrations, not full-blown parties. You should consider small chops, finger foods, nice wines, and cakes.
ANNIVERSARIES
Cakes are essential here, with nice wines. Don’t forget to do some barbequing and grill some nice proteins to go with smoky Jollof or Fried rice. A 3-course meal would also be an excellent idea.
WEDDINGS
Depending on your tribe, guests, and budget, you might want to go all out. Yam porridge, sodas, wines, cakes, pounded yam, rice, and different types of stew; just go all out.
