Firstly, a big shout-out to all the mothers because having kids, taking care of them, and giving them the proper meal could be a lot of work. We give you kudos for your effort. We know deciding the proper lunch for your children could be stressful, so if you are struggling to decide what to pack for your kids to school, you should consider serving them any of these meals.
1. Boiled Yam and Egg Sauce: You’ve probably thought about this; the only difference is you were not sure how to make it work. Our suggestion is that you cut the yam in tiny slices, similar to the size and shape of fries, and make sure to have enough tomatoes and less oil in the pepper sauce. We assure you; you will get a hug as soon as they get back from school. Make sure the yam is really, really soft before dishing it to your kids for lunch so they don’t struggle to bite through.
2. Noodles and Egg: We all know kids love noodles, so this is your sign to make them a plate for lunch this week. Be sure that the noodles is garnished with little veggies like carrots, onions, etc. Make the veggies almost unnoticeable and serve the egg boiled. That’s a perfect school lunch.
3. Macaroni and Fish: We are not sure if they still make that alphabet macaroni; those were the good old days. Another lunch idea for your kids would be well-cooked macaroni with pieces of fish in the mix. You know kids love to pick things from their meals; this meal is the perfect lunch.
4. Boiled Plantain and Sauce: Everybody loves plantain, kids inclusive. This meal is another option you should explore; ensure the sauce isn’t too peppery and the plantain is well-boiled. Then, it is good.
5. Rice and Stew: The old, ever-coming-through delicacy. As we say, if rice could grow on people’s heads, children would have 34 acres of rice land on their head. Rice is any child’s all-time favorite; make sure to add some fruits and juice to go with this rice and stew serving.
6. Bread and Egg: Bread and scrambled egg with juice is great for lunch, children love it. Consider trying it this week.
7. Jollof Rice, Spaghetti, and Beef/Chicken: Children like “orisirisi”; in this case, spaghetti and chicken is the ‘orisirisi’. Spicy Jollof goes well with beef or chicken; you should try it this week.
8. Cereal and Milk: Children love milk and cereal; a pack of coco pops or cornflakes with peak milk works just great for this. Let’s try it.
9. Beans and Plantain/Potatoes: Asides from the long time it takes for the beans to get ready, this meal is a healthy choice worth serving your kids for lunch. Just be sure the plantain/potatoes is ripe, and the beans is well cooked and garnished.
TIPS
1. Make sure your kids’ flasks or plates can keep the food warm.
2. Always include fruits and juice in their lunch bag.
