I know every business or restaurant has its off days, but the day I experienced at Quid by De Brit is enough to make the first visit my last. I visited the restaurant at mid-day on Sunday and was greeted by a very friendly person at the entrance.
The place was quite empty and had just a few guests who left some minutes after I arrived. There wasn’t much of an ambience, just dark-painted walls and some artwork. The ambience is a little better upstairs, to get there you have to pass through the bar where you might find the barman sleeping.
I started with a complimentary appetizer; the bread had an overpowering coconut taste with crumbs so I automatically assumed it was coconut bread.
I had no idea what was in the gravy boat. It looked like pap but tasted like mayonnaise so I asked the waitress for what it was called. Although she was quite friendly, she seemed inexperienced as she had no answer to minor questions like this.
For starters, I had Fritto Misto which cost ₦4,500 – I was disappointed at the first bite. The Fritto Misto had a crispy texture but had no taste. As I write this, I am still wondering if a Fritto Misto is supposed to taste this bland or it’s just their version that does. I hope to try it some other time and give you an answer soon.
For the main course, I ordered Grilled Salmon and fries but instead got BBQ Chicken with fries (₦5,800). This was a big turn off as it showed the staff’s lack of attention to detail. The BBQ Chicken came with fries and a sauce which I felt wasn’t necessary, the plating wasn’t fanciful at all and I still think they shouldn’t have tried.
The chicken was everything yummy, well marinated in a sauce that tasted like sugar and honey. Fries were regular, and the sauce had a funny taste (some things should never leave the kitchen).

To drink, I had a Strawberry milkshake. The milkshake (₦5,000) was basic, I have never had a milkshake that tasted bad but this isn’t anything I will say was extremely good.
If you are visiting this restaurant, it is important to keep your hopes underground. Don’t expect fine dining or fancy plating, it will end in tears.
Also important to note that there are no COVID-19 safety measures. The staff are not masked, there’s no hand sanitiser. All they give is a warm towel to clean your hands when you are about to eat.
Ambience | 2/10 I think this place is best for freelancers who need the serenity to work, it’s a no-no for a date.
Food Quality | 2/10 Apart from my BBQ Chicken and Milkshake, nothing tasted right
Location | The restaurant was easy to locate, although, the parking space is quite small. (It looked like the parking space wasn’t part of the building plan)The road that leads to the restaurant is good, it was raining but it didn’t look messy.
Price | Pricing is $$$ Total damage came to ₦16,447.50 Fritto Misto – ₦4,500 BBQ chicken with fries – ₦5,800 Strawberry Milkshake – ₦5,000 VAT: ₦1,147.50 View Restaurant Menus here
Service Delivery | Though friendly, the staff were incompetent. The barman was asleep, I could hear some staff arguing in the kitchen. Also, I overheard some staff making a mockery of a man who left because they didn’t have masks on. The whole experience for me was 2/10. |
