Seafood refers to edible aquatic animals sourced from any body of water, both salt and fresh and is considered elite. But like fingers, all seafood are not equal. Some are better than others, and so, this is a ranking of seafood from the not-so-great to the will-always-be-amazing.
Catfish
If you give me anything with Catfish in it, I would take it as a threat to my life and treat accordingly.
A solid 3/10 and that’s because it is only edible when smoked (to me).
Sardines
In this part of the world, Sardines are usually eaten in vegetable oil, and out of a can. Sardines’ flavour is not terrible, but I feel like I would enjoy it more when it is not drenched in salt and all that oil.
For this reason, Sardines get a 4/10.
Crabs
Crabs are great in theory; when you think about eating them, you think of that distinct flavour, and it might not seem so bad. But then, you buy them, they’re crawling all over the place, they stink, and it is so difficult to get to the meat because of that exoskeleton. Is it really worth it? I didn’t think so.
5/10 because when you finally get the meat, that Crab flavour is remarkable.
Prawns
Another crustacean but with a softer outer shell, Prawns are good. They are easy to cook, have a delightful flavour and are all-around delicious. 6/10
Crayfish
Packed with flavour, Crayfish can be used in cooking anything from your vegetable soup, to eggs. Yes, people add (powdered) crayfish to their fried eggs and let me tell you, they elevate the entire dish. 7/10
Croaker Fish
Grilled, fried, poached, cooked in any way, Croaker Fish is elite. Need I say more. 8/10
Calamari
The one thing I love about Calamari is its texture. Calamari is Italian for Squid and is gotten from the body, tentacles and the beak of Squids. It is absolutely delicious when fried in batter. 9/10
Shrimp
Shrimp is the seafood all other seafoods think they are. Versatile, unproblematic and delicious, Shrimp has my heart forever and ever—a complete 10/10.
