HSE Gourmet recently reopened its doors after its renovations and wow, it’s so well done and so beautiful! I’ve loved HSE for a long time and since we posted this on the blog. I have also been there quite a number of times but had no energy to write a post. Therefore, this update is long overdue.
Mixed Berry Fruit Iced Tea. The heat these days is not for the faint at heart, so this was much needed. It seemed fresh and not too sweet and was just right. It came in a bottle and I got two servings from this – not bad at all.
I had the Seabass, which cost ₦14,000. I’m still not sure if this is my fault or that of the waiter but seabass for this price with no complimentary sides? Wow, e be things. I came to HSE hungry so imagine my disappointment when I looked at my plate and that was all 🙁
I recently had a holiday and tried out a few restaurants and ordered Seabass. Let me just say they cannot be compared.
The Seabass was just alright, the flavours did not sink into the fish – it was not horrible, but it also wasn’t super great or memorable. The waiter apologised when he saw how disappointed I was with the portion and offered to place an order for a side but I was not interested and just ordered some pasta for take-out.
Ordered the Wild Mushrooms & Truffle Pasta to go and had extra chicken at an added cost.
I had this for dinner when I got home. I requested this to be spicy and indeed it was done just right. The portion was a lot and compensated for the disappointment of the Seabass. I could not finish it at a go and had the rest the next day. I would definitely recommend it for creamy pasta lovers. I’m not a big fan of cream-based pasta (team tomato-based here) but this was good.
HSE Gourmet in Lekki 1 is one of those few places in Lekki I can always count on for delicious meals. They also have Ohuru by HSE in Boardroom Apartments as well as HSE Cafe.
