Update: This is now Goza Lagos
Hey Foodies! How’s the new year coming along? Ours is off to a ‘food’ start at Shores Dining! 😁
We visited Shores Dining Restaurant and Lounge for dinner. Shores Dining is located on Oluniyi Olumide Crescent, Victoria Island. One has to be watchful because it’s easy to miss.
There are three dining spaces within the restaurant; two dining spaces downstairs; one of which is for general dining, while the other is strictly for private dining. There’s also a smoking room which has a minibar, which is not open for use yet. The first floor has a large dining section and an exquisite bar.
The lights above the bar caught my attention immediately I walked up the stairs. The decor is elegant, feels like an urban space that someone who loves to host will fall in love with. The strategic placement of plants in all the dining areas is noteworthy.
It was pretty obvious Shores Dining took extra care with decor because it certainly did not have a last-minute feel to it. I particularly liked how the different colours of the lights gave the space a different vibe and tweaked the ambience with every change of colour. There is a neon light inscription on the wall ‘Good Food Great Vibes’. It was apt.
There’s an outdoor space on the first floor. It wasn’t set up when we arrived. I’m not sure if that’s how the space is during use.
What We Had:
There is no physical menu, but there was a plaque on each table with a QR code, to access the menu online. While waiting for our appetizer to arrive, we were served a complimentary basket of bread and butter. The bread was warm and fresh.
Appetizer
Shrimpanadas (₦4,500)
K and I both enjoyed this. The dough was the right texture and, the filling was just right without being overwhelmingly spicy.
Drinks
K wanted the Kiwi Chronics cocktail, but Kiwi was not available, so she went with another, Cinful Mind (₦10,000). I know you just screamed at the price. lol. 😂
When I saw the price, I was like “Lagosians will not believe this.”
But, the cocktail was superb. I do agree that it is quite pricy for a cocktail. It also had this smoky flavour that worked well.
I had a mocktail called Virgin Blueberry Mojito (₦4,000). This was perfect. Superb is an understatement for these drinks because K still wants more! She says she has not been able to get them off her mind.
Mains
I had the Creamy Seafood Pasta and Jumbo Prawns. The pasta was the right texture, but a tad too salty.
K had Ribeye Steak with Vegetable Medley served with Herb rice and Black Pepper Corn Sauce. She didn’t enjoy this. The rice was okay, nothing spectacular. The steak was tough and not easy to cut through, it did not help the situation that she was not given a steak knife. The vegetable medley was bland. The mains are not on the menu, since Shores Dining is a new spot; I’m certain there are still a few tweaks and changes being made.
Dessert
We had Lemon Blueberry Cake Oat crumble, Ice cream, Spiced Blueberry Coulis (₦6,000). There was some oat crumble on the plate and this amped up the dessert even more.
We also had the Lotus Cheesecake. This was good too; with a perfect texture and sweet. I’m sure T would love this. She’s a huge sweet tooth.
It was a 9/10 experience for us and we are certainly going back for those cocktails and some dessert. 😉
