You know what they say about sandwiches, it is the most noble form of lunch. It was on a Saturday afternoon, and my friend and I decided to give ourselves a gourmet sandwich treat at 12 Inch Baguette, I have always wanted to try their baked wheat baguette so that seemed like a perfect opportunity.
First off, let’s talk about the place. The outdoor setting at 12 Inch Baguette is quite lovely and peaceful, however, there’s a bit of a downside – they could really use some shade for when the sun is scorching or when it starts pouring. A little cover would make this place even more charming.
Now, onto the star of the show – the sandwiches! Here, you’ve got two choices for your sandwich base. There’s the freshly baked baguette, which comes free of charge, and the freshly baked wheat baguette which costs ₦1,000.
For my sandwich, I went with the freshly baked baguette and loaded it up with minced beef. They offer a range of toppings, including some freebies like lettuce, pickled & caramelized onions, and fresh herbs. I decided to indulge a bit and added a slice of mozzarella cheese for an extra ₦500. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can pile on more toppings, each costing between ₦200 to ₦300.
And guess what? The sauces are on the house! I couldn’t resist mixing some Basil mayo, BBQ Sauce, and Suya BBQ to spice up my sandwich. The sandwich was absolutely yummy and satisfying. The only thing that could’ve made it better was a smidge more salt and pepper for that extra flavor kick. Nonetheless, it was a nice treat.
Our overall experience was great. The service at 12 Inch Baguette was a standout. Even with a wait time of about 20 minutes, the staff and chef were super patient, friendly, and kind. Their dedication to making sure you have a great meal is clear in how attentive they are.
