“Fitness transforms you and helps you to be self aware” – Fitness Therapist at Soul Fitness, Innocent Solomon Nnachi.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your personality, and your background.
My name is Solomon Oruh, also known as soul fitness. I am a certified fitness trainer with a tertiary degree in Business Administration and Economics from Houdegbe North American University.
How did you start your journey as a fitness coach?
I started because I needed to focus on achieving self-cleansing. I was battling addiction and wasn’t sure what to do, so I began working out. I would glance at myself, and I could see the changes and transformations in the mirror in the gym. There was this desire to continue, and I did.
What do you consider the challenging part of this journey?
Getting started and staying at it is difficult for anyone. Also, the stereotype attached to being a fitness coach is one of the challenges. People look at you and assume you are not serious or have nothing going for you whenever you say you are a fitness coach.
What is your vision for your brand in the next three years?
I would have a gym franchise that focuses on self-development through fitness and cultivating healthy living through lifestyle. A gym that is not limited to just seeing people work out but teaching healthy patterns and helping people identify body type.
What does fitness do to the soul, mind, and body?
It transforms by creating discipline and self-awareness but not in a toxic way.
What is the importance of protein shakes?
It helps you add muscles; but functions more for ectomorphs. You could add supplements to your protein shake intake.
FITNESS DRILLS.
What are the steps to starting a fitness journey?
You need to know your body type.
ENDOMORPHS: They have softer bodies and curves, their weight is often in their hips, and endomorphs often have a lot of fat and tend to gain weight easily
ECTOMORPHS: They’re long and lean with little fat and average muscle; they have a hard time gaining weight. Examples are models and basketballers.
MESOMORPHS: They develop muscles easily and tend to have more muscle than fat and in some cases a balance of both.
Do some cardiovascular workouts.
It would help you dry up water weight; you can start with aerobics and treadmills. Do squats to train your waist, jog around for mobility, and do some boxing and skipping for moderation of body structure. Make sure to balance and do some deadlifts for body balance.
What is your professional opinion on fitness?
People want comfort, so they become relaxed. They are comfortable driving to where they should walk, they don’t even participate in daily stretches. It should be different, everyone should exercise regardless of how little.
FUN FACT
Would you rather do arms or legs work out?
Legs. That’s because I wear shorts and I get a lot of compliments when I do. I would rather work my legs to avoid looking like Johnny Bravo.
Smoothies or organic juice?
Smoothies, because I am ectomorph. So, I need things high in calories to enable my muscle growth.
Design your gym interior with colors?
Light blue, white.
If you were the world’s fitness master, what workout would you make compulsory?
Boxing- because it is a combination of aerobics, stretching, and arm workout.
If you weren’t doing Soul Fitness, what would you be doing?
I’d be a public speaker.
