Amara by Delis is a new café in Lagos that’s on everyone’s lips, and before you decide to visit, here’s exactly what you should know. Located in Victoria Island, Amara by Delis is a pâtisserie, coffee, and wellness café that leans heavily into that soft, premium lifestyle aesthetic. Naturally, I had to check it out.
First things first, the space is beautiful. Everything about it feels intentional. It’s minimal, clean, calm, and filled with natural light. It gives that effortless “soft life” vibe that a lot of high-end cafés aim for, but don’t always achieve. If ambience alone was the selling point, Amara would already be topping the rest.
But then you open the menu…and that’s when you take a pause.
We started with the Coconut Green Splash which cost ₦12,000 – I found this unnecessarily too high for a non-alchoholic drink (Lagos what is it??) and it wasn’t also green. It was refreshing no doubt but the glass for that price – way too small. We also had the Mango Mingle Smoothie which cost ₦15,000 – it was just alright! Way too pricey for an average smoothie but it was nice but not 15k nice. We also had a bottle of water and this cost ₦2,000.
Right away, you can tell this isn’t your average café pricing. Smoothies in the ₦12k–₦15k range already place it firmly in the premium category. The drinks were refreshing and clearly made with quality ingredients, but at these prices, you’re automatically expecting something memorable, not just good.
For food, we tried the Mango Avocado Summer Salad going for ₦28,500 and the Tropical Açaí Bowl for ₦30,000, with other bowls going as high as ₦38,000. What is going on???
Salads pushing ₦30k and bowls nearing ₦40k are not typical for the Lagos café scene. At that point, you’re already comparing it to a full dining experience, not just a light meal for salads and smoothie bowls.
To give a bit more context, the general menu looks like this:
Our total bill came to ₦98,438 for two people, including tax.
I understand they might be using imported products but the pricing here is such an outlier but I also suspect they are also targeting a very specific audience, people who are willing to pay for ambience, exclusivity, and a curated lifestyle experience.
And to their credit, there were some thoughtful touches. When the staff noticed we weren’t fully satisfied, they sent over complimentary desserts, which we genuinely appreciated. That level of attentiveness matters, especially in a space like this.
Still, at this price point, expectations are naturally very high. When you’re spending this much, you want everything, from taste to portions to overall experience, to feel worth it. If anything feels slightly off, it becomes more noticeable.
Overall Review
Overall, Amara by Delis is a stunning café with a clear identity. The aesthetics are there, the concept is strong, and it definitely stands out in Lagos’ growing café scene. But right now, it feels like the pricing is already at its peak while the full experience is still finding its balance.
Would I go back? Yes, but I’d try something else. I’d stick to coffee, maybe a dessert, or something light. It feels more enjoyable that way, without the pressure of a full, expensive meal.
It’s absolutely worth trying at least once. Just make sure you go in prepared.
