Not every café needs to be trendy or overly curated to stand out. Some just get it right with simplicity, and that’s exactly what Bakendales does.

Located in Ikoyi, Bakendales Pâtisserie is one of those places you go to when you want to catch a breather. The space is clean, minimal, and quietly inviting. Nothing feels forced. It’s calm, easy on the eyes, and the kind of environment where you can sit for hours without realising it. It’s perfect for working, having meetings, or just taking a break from the chaos of Lagos.

I visited recently while in a bid to explore more cafés in Lagos, and this one immediately stood out for how serene everything felt.

Meals

I kept things simple but satisfying.

Croissant Avocado

This came with eggs, avocado, and sausage, and I added an extra pork sausage on the side. It was rich without being overwhelming. The croissant was properly flaky, the avocado added that creamy balance, and everything worked well together. It’s the kind of breakfast that feels filling but still light enough to enjoy slowly.

Drinks

Caramel Latte

This was smooth, well-balanced, and nicely presented. It wasn’t too strong or too sweet, just right.

This was light and refreshing, especially if you want something more subtle alongside your meal.

They also offer pastries and ice cream, so there’s enough variety if you want to explore beyond breakfast. Overall, the café doesn’t overwhelm you with choices, it focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well.

Everything came out on time, no delays at all, just a smooth, easy experience from start to finish.

OVERALL REVIEW

Bakendales Ikoyi stands out because of the experience. The café is calm, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, making it perfect for a quiet breakfast, catching up with a friend, or getting some work done.

The menu is simple and well executed. Breakfast dishes, pastries, and coffee are highlights, and small extras like ice cream add variety without feeling overwhelming.

Bakendales focuses on doing the basics right: good food, great coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere.

If you’re looking for somewhere to have a quiet breakfast, a relaxed catch-up, or even a solo work session, this is a spot worth adding to your list.
