The Ultimate Search for Best Abula spot in Lagos
Amala Avengers, arise, oh ye compatriots. A lot of people would say the best Amala they have ever had is from Skye, Ibadan. Ha (literally my expression), you mean to tell me Ibadan beats Lagos in Abula service? That cannot be. So, I took it upon myself to look for the best Amala spots in Lagos.
For starters, I enlisted the expertise of @lumee_m, the Abula connoisseur, and we started with IYA OYO’S CANTEEN in Victoria Island. It is a basic cheap eat spot that looks like every local eating space, so there isn’t anything extraordinary about the ambiance, but it was a clean space.
MEAL
I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious plate of Amala here. The Amala didn’t quite steal the spotlight but the stew was undeniably the star of the show, mad and flavorful. The Goat meat was incredibly tender. The Ewedu had Egusi in it and the Gbegiri was very thick and tasty. I would love to try another swallow option the next time I visit.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
The meal was great and I love the fact that the staff at Iya Oyo’s Canteen were accommodating. If you’re in the mood for budget-friendly and tasty food, make your way to this spot and tag me on your experience. I think I just locked down one of the best Amala spots, let me know if you agree.

Iya Lanko came highly recommended, and my curiosity led me all the way to Mushin. To be completely honest, my experience left me feeling underwhelmed. The meal to me was basic, it wasn’t hitting the spot. It tasted like what I could have made myself.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I wanted to ensure a balanced review, so I had three other people try it out, and the consensus was unanimous – it was just “okay”. My visit might have been an exception, and your experience could be different, but I loved Iya Lanko’s vibes.

This was brought to my radar by another creator, and I just had to stop by, since I was on the quest to find the best Amala spot in Lagos, and it seems like I may have found a winner.
MEAL
MAMA TOYIN serves Amala and ewedu without gbegiri, but let me tell you, it was so tasty you’ll probably not notice the exclusion. I couldn’t help but finish every last bite on my plate. I would describe the meal in one word- Amazing.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I had a lot of comment on the quality of flour used, a lot of my followers also said the soup complimented the flaws of the Amala. It was good experience for me.

Of course, I couldn’t have missed the opportunity to try IYA MORIA’S CANTEEN in Yaba.
MEAL
I had high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. The Amala was so well-mixed and smooth with no lumps in sight. The Pomo and meat were soft and well-cooked. Iya Moria also impressed me with their neat and well-maintained space. It was evident that cleanliness and hygiene were given priority.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
Before they let me film, they ensured I covered my hair and I could tell that they took their space and quality control very seriously. I also noticed some Chowdeck riders around waiting to pick up. So if you’re looking to order from the comfort of your home, check them out on there.
