In this life, there are a couple of things that always matter – things like money, people, love, peace, and food, yes food, because what is life without food?
Sometimes, people mistake being a foodie for gluttony, but that is not it. Being a foodie means exploring the culinary world by trying different meals, snacks, and drinks. It means identifying with the diversity of dishes and the beauty of flavors. And there are rules to getting this done.
Welcome to Foodie Rules 101 by Foodie in Lagos, it is in this zone you learn the dos and don’ts of Foodies.
Rule 1: Always remain a foodie, because what else is in this world that can make you happy if not food? Sometimes, you taste something new and you can’t help but smile. You even ask yourself what is this beauty? Of course, It can only be food.
Rule 2: Never forget to compliment the Chef if the meal was worth it. Why hoard compliments, let it go my dia. Tell the Chef about the butterflies in your tummy.
Rule 3: Document every moment. Take pictures, make videos and ensure it is done with a clean lens on portrait and landscape. How else would you prove to the world that you are a foodie? Collect evidence of your food adventures, always and forever.
Rule 4: Eat away from home. Why stick with the conventional food style? Why eat only Amala when you can take Chicken Escalope? Why eat just basic chicken and chips? Try other things, and eat away from home.
Rule 5: Find a community of foodies and walk with them. Liverpool, never walk alone. That is the mood.
Rule 6: Hashtags and Hygiene are necessary. Hygiene first, being a foodie means paying attention to the space you are eating. Wash your hands, and ensure your cutlery is clean. Always use the @ and #. It helps your documented food adventure reach a wide range of people.
Rule 7: Check the ingredients. As a Foodie, it is appropriate to know what’s in your meal. You can always recreate it. Asides from that, checking ingredients makes you stay clear of allergy attacks.
Rule 8: Origin. As a foodie, it’s necessary to know the origin of the meals you try or drinks you have. The tribe, culture, or nation the meal originates from. Be aware.
Rule 9: Research new spots and recommend great food places through your reviews. It is necessary to be on the lookout for great food places. No foodie should miss out on lovely food spaces. Foodies don’t hoard hot and new food locations either.
Rule 10: Try new flavors and styles. Don’t stick to conventional meal patterns. Try cookies and cream ice cream, and explore banana and kiwi sauces. Try other flavors. Life is sweet.
Rule 11: Watch calorie intake. As much as it’s okay to explore, take a break and watch your consumption. Don’t give a chance to the people of the world to enter you.
