As you all know, I’m still on the search for the best Amala in Lagos. This search led me to Amoke Oge, Bawala branch. They have a large space but it can get really hot especially when it’s crowded. Here, there’s a disorganized queue to get amala, another queue for gbegiri, stew, etc even up until payment.
MEAL
I secured a plate of Amala, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Goat Meat, Ponmo and Fish. The texture of the amala was not smooth. The stew had the right amount of pepper and was really tasty. The meat was well seasoned. The Ponmo was soft, but the goat meat was really hard – it was a battle chewing it. The fish didn’t have any taste. The stew was the spotlight and the best part of this meal.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I enjoyed my meal and might visit again but this time, it would be to try out their rice. The staff were very slow and usually ignored people speaking to them. It all just could be better.
