It’s been a while since I visited a restaurant on the Island, but Flaky’s Kitchen has always been a spot on my list, so I decided to visit and review the space and food. The space is a small but beautiful spot that has a cool feel to it; I was the only one there when I visited. I guess they do more online orders and delivery. The wall is decorated with some beautiful art piece; I loved the sight of it.

MEAL

I ordered a couple of things on the menu and was glad my food came out fast. My wait time was about 10 – 15 minutes. I got Flaky’s special fried rice with Deep Fried Chicken mixed with dry chili sauce. I loved the special fried rice; it was tasty and well seasoned, plus the chunk of chicken that was in it was impressive.

The portion was more, contrary to my expectations because I ordered the smallest plate from the menu. However, I did ask them to exclude the use of prawns because I didn’t feel like having them. I think you can make adjustments to your dish based on your preferences. The chicken was really tender, medium spiced, and good overall.

DRINK

I stepped down my meal with a glass of the flaky’s berry. To be honest, it was nothing spectacular; it tasted like a regular milkshake. I had expected some sort of secret milkshake recipe because of the name of the drink; I thought it was a signature drink.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

I enjoyed my meal and experience. The customer service was good; the staff are polite and welcoming, plus they understand their duties. I really liked the cozy feel that came with the space. Heads up, Flaky’s Kitchen included a total of 3 taxes to their service- Service Charge of 10%, VAT 7.5%, and Lagos state consumption tax of 5%- please keep that in mind when you go to dine.
