When you think about bread, your mind goes to the usual street bread sold in Lagos or the vanilla-flavored loaves of bread sold in stores. But bread isn’t just that and some flour. Bread should consist of flavors and spices, it should have an inviting shape. This article would help provide insight into some types of bread we have, and flavors of bread worth having.
Here are some of the types of bread we have around the world:
Multigrain: This type of bread is made with millet, oats, flax, etc. It is great for sandwiches and vegan-friendly toast.
Pita: Pita bread originated from the Middle East and is mostly made with wheat flour. Pita is best eaten with stuffing in it.
Cornbread: As the name implies, this type of bread is made with cornmeal and is popular in the United States. It has a shell life of a week and can be made fluffy or crumbly light.
Baguette/ French Bread: This bread is long and has an oblong shape, popular among Italians; it is made from flour, yeast, salt, and water. It is popularly eaten with garlic spread. You can find this bread in neighboring countries to Nigeria like Benin, Ghana, etc.
Bagels, chapati, tortilla, and muffins also qualify as types of bread.
Flavors to have your bread:
Coconut Bread: One of the best flavors of bread you can have is coconut bread; it can be made with coconut flakes or blended coconut mix. You could have this in different shapes, but most people cut theirs in loaves. You should at least try this once.
Almond Bread: Anything made from almonds is close to perfect, which is why you should explore almond-flavored bread. You could even try almonds and banana flavored bread.
Sardine Bread: This bread is one of Nigerian’s best. Popularly sold in Big Treat bakery, Lagos from 2012 into 2016, this bread is considered very filling and serves multipurpose when it comes to the nutrients it gives.
Gingerbread: This bread is heavenly. It doesn’t cost much to make, and it is advised for the health benefit it gives. You could get ginger-flavored powder to get a suitable taste or explore the alternative of blending your ginger in it. Don’t forget to add cloves, nutmeg, and sweetener.
Other flavors of bread to try are pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls, milk bread, monkey bread, etc. The list doesn’t end.
Some of the shapes you can make bread dough:
Round- This is similar to the shape of the Jewish bread, but could turn out different based on the pan and amount of yeast you use.
Rectangle – This is the shape Nigerian slice bread, and agege bread comes in.
Rolls- You could also make your bread in a roll, similar to cinnamon rolls.
