Shark House 101, Lekki
Aarons Mall, 12 Olubunmi Owa Sreet, Lekki
Shark House 101 Lekki or is it Shark Express as that’s the name on Instagram (as I am not so sure which it is) is a seafood house in Lekki, Lagos and Abuja. Shark House 101 offers fresh and cooked seafood. Shout out to a friend of the blog – Jags for putting us on this. I remember he sent a message saying we have our own version of Red Lobster in Lagos so we checked it out.
Now I must warn you, the pictures are not that pretty as the food ordered took us straight to business with both hands very busy and messy (lol). By the way, you can click on the address for the Shark House 101 and it will open google maps for you and same for the telephone number to dial straight away.
The location of The Shark House 101 shares the same space with the Tilt Terrace Lekki which is on the top floor of Aarons mall in Lekki (where Glover Court Lekki is). It is honestly not anything fancy and the menu is pretty straightforward. You can access the menu here.
Ordered the Seafood Boil which was supposed to be Prawns, Crawfish, Clams/Mussels, Crabs, Corn/Potatoes. However, a bunch of these were not available and it was essentially a crab and prawn feast and no corn so had to do with potatoes. In addition to the Seafood Boil at The Shark Express / Shark House 101, ordered a side of Calamari and Onion rings to go along with it. Eating crab is also an essential life skill by the way. Whew…
Pro tip – it is better to call and order ahead as they take some sweet time in the kitchen to prepare this as we had to wait for over an hour. We also ordered Fried Rice which was really nice even though the portion was small and left us wanting more.
The SeaFood Boil: Portion-wise the seafood boil at the Shark House 101 Lekki / Shark Express was a lot and adequate for two (2) to share. It is really spicy and if you are not someone who loves pepper, this may be a little too hot for you. You are offered nylon gloves to wear as it is really a messy affair and no time for fork and knife to handle this.
The Calamari: The Calamari at the Shark House Lekki was a bit weird. I think they used Yaji pepper (suya pepper) on it but it came off quite hard and was not the best. Would not recommend anyone ordering this as it really was weird. The onion rings were ok.
The Fried Rice was super lovely and that’s enough to actually go back – enjoyed it that much but for that price and portion, issa no *tears*
If you are looking for that super authentic seafood experience in Lagos, the Shark Express and Shark House 101 is one of your best bets. I think the price is also not too bad as they also offer delivery of fish and other seafood. This will definitely be a seafood lovers haven.
The experience at Shark House 101 was not bad, the seafood boil is great and extremely filling but the service is extremely slow. The Calamari came out really late as we had to remind the manager on the floor who had most likely forgotten our order. For the seafood experience, the Shark House 101 / Shark Express Lekki scores some major points so Seafood lovers get in there!
Score: 7/10
