Soho Lagos Summary

There’s a certain kind of expectation when you step into a place like Soho Lagos. Beautiful interiors, great ambiance, a curated vibe. But as we’ve learned from experience (and from this particular day), aesthetics don’t equal taste.
We went in with open minds and empty stomachs. But unfortunately, what we left with was disappointment and a note to self: never again.
Here’s our full, unfiltered food journey.
Let’s talk about the one thing Soho Lagos absolutely gets right—the ambience.
From the moment you walk in, the space screams contemporary luxury. The warm wooden tones, clean beige palette, minimalist lighting, and curated indoor plants give it that high-end Mediterranean aesthetic.
The open wine wall, softly lit shelves, and tastefully arranged furniture add a cozy-meets-elegant vibe. It’s Instagram-friendly without being overly try-hard—a space clearly designed for conversation, celebration, and curated content.
Whether you’re planning brunch with friends or a fancy dinner date, Soho definitely knows how to set a mood.
But as we’ve learned, ambience isn’t everything.
We kicked things off with what should’ve been a simple win: cocktails. Demi ordered a Whiskey Sour, but it arrived fizzy—which, if you know cocktails, is just plain wrong. It was drinkable, sure, but far from memorable.
Next came the tacos. We thought we were getting a trio—prawn, beef, and chicken—but what landed on our table were three identical chicken tacos. That wouldn’t have been a problem if they tasted good, but they didn’t. The chicken was hard, the flavor was flat, and without the sauce, it tasted like cardboard. A total letdown.

Then came the calamari, and as soon as it hit the table looking greasy, our expectations dipped. One bite confirmed it: under-seasoned batter with no crunch. The only saving grace? A surprisingly good dipping sauce. But let’s be honest—a dish shouldn’t need sauce to survive.
The truffle fries were the biggest letdown of all. We expected that signature truffle aroma. Instead, we got thick, over-fried fries that brought yamarita to mind. No truffle scent, no richness, just salt and disappointment. Frankly, it felt insulting. If this is the “Soho version” of truffle fries, the menu should say so. Don’t mislead people.

There was one bright spot: the mashed potatoes. Buttery, well-seasoned, and creamy without being too rich- it was the only dish we fully cleared. A simple win in a sea of missed opportunities. Whoever made it deserves a raise.
Finally, the turkey wing- ₦20,000 for a single piece. We expected bold, teriyaki flavor but got something closer to boiled turkey with chili oil and honey. No aroma, no depth, and certainly no teriyaki. Mislabeling was the real issue here. If it’s spicy honey-glazed turkey, just say that. Don’t call it what it isn’t.
Let’s be clear—Soho Lagos is beautiful. The vibe is there, the presentation is clean, the branding is strong. But when it comes to food? It’s giving all style, no substance.
Most of the menu is either under-seasoned, misrepresented, or just doesn’t taste good. If you’re particular about flavor, you may leave feeling underwhelmed—and possibly a little robbed.
Would we return? NO!!!
