This is my first Chinese hotpot in Lagos review so if you’ve ever been curious about hotpot in Lagos, let me be the one to tell you—run, don’t walk. I visited White Garden Chinese Restaurant recently, tucked away in Victoria Island (VI), and it was nothing short of a flavorful journey. From the dual-flavored broth to the DIY sauce bar, everything about it was giving wholesome, flavour-packed comfort food.
White Garden isn’t about over-the-top interiors or dramatic lighting. The space is simple, clean, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. This is the kind of spot where the focus is food, not frills. I went with a friend after seeing a few TikToks and hearing whispers from fellow foodies, and we were genuinely curious to see what White Garden Chinese was all about.

We ordered the dual-flavored hotpot—Yin Yang. And let me tell you, this combo is amazing. There is a spicy broth hits you with just enough heat to keep things exciting, while the other regular broth with veggies calms everything down with its fragrant depth. Together? A perfect 10/10.
We kept things simple:
Sliced local beef – super tender once cooked in the broth
Juicy prawns – fresh and satisfying
Cilantro pork skewers – a surprise favorite
Bok choy, enoki mushrooms, and Chinese cabbage – light but crunchy additions
If you’re into customizing your flavor journey, this place is for you. The broth is just the beginning.

One of the highlights? The sauce bar. You get everything from:
Garlic
Soy sauce
Sesame oil
Chili
and so much more
You can build your own dipping sauce based on your mood, spice level, or pairing goals. I tried a garlic-sesame-soy combo with a bit of chili oil and couldn’t get enough.
Let me be honest: hot pot is a bit of a cook-it-yourself situation. You’re not just sitting and being served—you’re actively dipping, stirring, waiting, and repeating. But that’s part of the fun. It makes the meal feel interactive and intimate, especially if you go with someone you enjoy talking (and eating) with.
The staff was super helpful and walked us through how it all works—perfect for a first-timer like me. Our orders came out fast, and there was no pressure to rush. The vibe? Chill, satisfying, and cozy. It’s the kind of place you’ll think about the next time you’re craving something filling but also different.
White Garden’s hotpot has officially entered my comfort food hall of fame. Whether you’re a hot pot newbie or a seasoned brothy veteran, this spot deserves a visit. The ingredients are fresh, the broth is fire, and the experience is wholesome.
