If you’ve been on Instagram or TikTok lately, then you’ve definitely seen MaMatcha — one of the newest cafés in Lekki Phase 1 that Lagos has quickly latched onto. And because Lagos doesn’t waste time when it comes to new spots, I decided to visit… not once, but twice, before sharing my thoughts.
Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
MaMatcha is a clean, minimal, metallic-style café tucked away in Lekki Phase 1. The space is clearly designed with intention — but not necessarily for long sit-downs. Indoor seating is quite limited, which gives more of a grab-and-go or quick hangout vibe, while the outdoor area includes a pickup window and a few seating options.
There’s also a high counter workspace with sockets, making it suitable if you want to plug in and get some work done quickly. However, based on their house rules if you are going to use a Laptop and work from there, minimum spend is ₦20,000.
Overall, the space is:

One thing I liked is the variety on the menu — it’s not just a matcha spot. But with a name like ‘MaMatcha’, Matcha is definitely top of mind
Menu categories include:
So yes — there’s something for everyone.
This was easily one of my highlights.
The pizza was:
And the cheese pull? Elite.
If you’re going for the first time, this is a safe and solid pick.
The aroma hit before the first bite — and it did not disappoint.
Interestingly, on my first visit, the noodles were thinner egg noodles, but on this visit, they were flat egg noodles — and I preferred this version.
This is their white chocolate matcha, and I actually really enjoyed it.
It’s a good entry-level matcha if you’re not used to strong matcha flavours.
My only issue? The cup size is small
This one was my least favourite.
On my second visit, the experience was noticeably better. However, one thing to keep in mind: This place gets BUSY — very quickly. And with that; orders may take longer and the space can feel crowded.
That said, staff were: pleasant, polite and helpful
My total bill came to: ₦72,168.75 (including tax). If you’re visiting, you can expect to spend ₦30,000+ per person and More if you’re ordering mains + drinks + extras
Ma Matcha is trendy, aesthetic and backed by a strong and diverse menu. But like many new Lagos spots, it’s still finding its rhythm with service timing, balancing portion sizes vs pricing
A solid new café worth trying especially for the food and variety but go prepared for crowds and a bit of a wait and don’t let the pricing catch you by suprise.
Trendy and buzzing café with great food options, but go prepared for crowds, smaller drink portions and possible wait times. One of the new spots for Matcha in Lekki.
