I had been thinking a lot about some of the restaurants I visited last year and wondering if they’re still as good as I remember. That curiosity led me back to Bira’s Place after a whole year. It’s tucked away in Sabo, right on top of Trolley’s Supermarket.
Bira’s Place has a relaxed, welcoming feel with comfortable seating areas that make you want to settle in and stay for a while. The setup feels easygoing, and they have pool tables. I think this adds a playful touch to the atmosphere. There’s not much to say about the exterior at Bira’s Place; it’s pretty simple, more like a signboard, and you could easily miss it if you’re not looking out for it. But once you step inside, it’s a different story.

My friend and I got to Bira’s quite early and decided to start with the English breakfast from their breakfast menu. It was everything a breakfast should be. However, we didn’t exactly dive into it because we wanted to have enough space in our tummies for the main meals.
This was spicy but very delicious. The Efo riro had chunks of pomo in it, the Poundo was quite fluffy and the Goat Meat was soft and well seasoned. Every bite was tasty, definitely a win.
My friend had this combo, and it was bussin’. The Ofada came with assorted meats and a boiled egg. The meat was a bit tough, but manageable. The plantain was delicious and let’s be honest, if you mess up plantain, then you are bad vibes.
We couldn’t resist ordering from the à la carte menu, so we got the Small Chops Platter and it did not disappoint. It came exactly as described: 10 pieces of chicken, 4 samosas, 5 mosas, 20 puff-puffs, 3 snails, 6 slices of plantain, 5 spring rolls, 2 shawarmas, and fries. The samosas were crisp and not overly stuffed with veggies, the snails were spicy and flavorful, and the shawarma was creamy without being soggy (though the sausage could’ve been grilled better). The chicken was tender and tasty. This platter can easily feed four to five people. I would definitely come back for it!

This tasted a little more like Fanta. It was refreshing but not remarkable, definitely a 6/10 for me.
In the Lounge, I had the Bira’s Signature, while my friend had the Tropical Smoothie. Both were a solid 8/10. The drinks were refreshing and well-balanced.
I didn’t realize they had a lounge during my last visit! It is such a cute and cozy spot, perfect for relaxing after your meal. They’ve got some great midweek deals too:

The lounge offers a variety of games to keep things fun. My friend and I played Ayoo and Jenga while waiting for our order, and this took me back to the days when I used to play Ayoo with my grandfather.

Bira’s Place is still one of my favorite mainland Lagos restaurants for good food and chill vibes. The service is a 10/10, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is perfect for hanging out with friends. We were so full by the end that we had to pack up the leftovers to take home. No regrets though, totally worth it!
Quick plug: They’re currently running a promo at their shawarma spot where you buy one shawarma and get a free zobo drink. So, my mainland people… Don’t say I didn’t do anything for you
