Kewa’s Kitchen
Delivery only
First Work Lunch feature for the year because I have been trying to save money (lol). Remember that the “Work Lunch” category are mainly meals ordered in to eat at work and are mainly Food vendors who don’t have physical locations to eat-in. A few places have transitioned and grown to have physical locations but the focus in mainly online/delivery only hence Work Lunch
Work Lunch feature today is from Kewa’s Kitchen. Found the Kewa’s Kitchen page on Instagram and thought to try them as I’d been following the page for a bit even when the kitchen was closed temporarily when she went for a course at Le Cordon Bleu. I had initially tried to order on the day I wanted the meal and was not able to as orders must be placed 24 hours before. This makes sense because logistic companies can drive one mad and it just aids proper planning.
The Menu: On the menu for the day were three (3) options only to choose from – Tomato & Basil Meatball Pasta (₦2,000), Chicken Cashew Stir-fry (₦2,500) and Super Food Salad (₦3,000)
Ordered Meal: Placed my order the day before (as pre-ordering is advised). I am at this point where I am trying to eat healthy again and so I went with the Super Food Salad option from Kewa’s Kitchen. This was Grilled Chicken with Broccoli, Quinoa, Avocado, Mixed Leaves, Roasted Pumpkin, and Feta Cheese. After having the Zesty Quinoa Salad from the Healthy Salad Company which was basically my introduction to this, I have really come to like Quinoa salads
Delivery Time: Since I had ordered the day before, I expected to get my order as early as 12 pm since pre-orders help these vendors t to be organised and make deliveries early enough. However, delivery was a bit of a pain despite placing the order the day before and thanks to the inefficiencies of the delivery company, my order was delivered at about 2 pm and I had to start calling to find out where the meal was. It was a whole lot of back and forths which was quite annoying.
Packaging: I’ve always disliked these cardboard/box packages coz they tend to soak if the salad has a lot of liquid or whatever but maybe I’ll slowly embrace them and I guess that’s why Kewa’s Kitchen team lined it – which is alright then.
Thoughts: I have said it again and again that I am not a salad expert – I just believe everything and anything I eat has to be tasty enough for me to like it.
The Salad’s dressing was olive oil & black pepper which seemed like the most ideal as cream can take away a lot of the actual taste and may not be clean eating compliant.
The Super Food Salad from Kewa’s Kitchen was quite loaded and had some pomegranate seeds (had the fruit for the first time when I went to Morocco with FnP Travel) which added some colour. The grilled Chicken on its own was quite tasty and cut in slices and by the time I got to the end, realized that the portion was just adequate.
The Broccoli was very crunchy which is how I like it. The Avocado was enveloped in quinoa lumps and always gave me this surprising feel because I didn’t even know it was an avocado I had picked up. Was not a fan of the pumpkin and doubt it was roasted as described, but there is always a first time for everything and the feta and the pumpkin together was a nice blend. I think I also tasted some mint leaves which was nice and never really thought about it being salad-worthy.
The Kewa’s Kitchen salad was a really good salad. Loved it
Score: 9/10
