If you are ever invited for a dinner in Lagos and you are told that the place is in Ikeja GRA, let’s bet… you are going to Isaac John Street. That’s where all the fancy places are and that’s where all the fun happens.
For those who don’t know Isaac John Street, it is a street in Ikeja GRA (Lagos) with a lot of fancy dining experiences. Think Las Vegas strip, but for dining.
Also, for food bloggers contemplating where to start, try Isaac John. (My first post on this blog was a review of a restaurant there –I’m thinking of going back there to celebrate my 12 years of blogging next year.)
Without wasting much time, here are the restaurants you should look out for when on the famous Isaac John Street.
Best Restaurants in Isaac John Street: Where to Dine in Style
I’ve been to Yellow Chilli before and I have a full review of my experience. It has a good ambiance that doesn’t scream at you. It is peaceful and serene and it has a wonderful outdoor setting. I had a plate of pounded yam and seafood Okra, and the food touched me so much that I prayed a heartfelt prayer for the cooks. Yes, it was that good. If you don’t try anything else there, I urge you to try that.
La Mango is the perfect spot for those who want to combine dining and lounging. It’s perfect for hosting group events like birthday parties and hangouts and it has a relaxing outdoor seating area.
Rhapsody’s is on the fancier side of Isaac John restaurants. It has a very extravagant ambiance and a diverse menu that ranges from pasta to seafood, steaks, and gourmet burgers.
Honestly, the interiors are just too elegant and it’s the perfect place for a cosy dinner. It’s good to know that smoking is allowed indoors. That may be good news or bad news to you.
Iyeru Okin has maybe the classiest interior decor in this list. I didn’t say fancy, but classy. It’s the kind of place you’ll feel comfortable taking your work colleague for an after-work dinner to pre-celebrate the promotion you’ve heard whispers of.
It’s located within the Radisson Blu Hotel, and it’s famous for twisting (in a good way) traditional Nigerian dishes. It is also surprisingly affordable (as far as fine dining is concerned).
Am I the only one who wants to eat Asian food after watching K-drama? In the hunt for a good Asian spot, Zen Garden came to save the day.
It’s a yes on elegance, yes on good food, and yes on your inner Chinese. It’s probably the most romantic place for a dinner on Isaac John. And by that I mean it has the “mushy” lighting that you love birds like.
Who makes a restaurant list without including a steakhouse? Not me. If you’re craving premium steaks, go to CUT. Whether it’s ribeye, fillet, or T-bone, they got you. Just be ready to open up your wallet a little bit.
Note that some of these places are night-time restaurants (open by 5 pm and close at dawn) while others are regular daytime ones. Be sure to check their open times before booking your ride to Isaac John.
