Japanese Cuisine in Lagos, Japanese Food in Lagos
It’s true that there’s rice at home but sometimes you just want to try something new. For us, today, it’s Japanese food. Japanese food mostly consists of rice, seafood and broths, but is anything but mainstream. I mean, this culture gave us Sushi, which is one of the most popular dishes in the world. Thankfully, you don’t have to travel to Japan or Asia to enjoy Japanese cuisine as we have some restaurants right here in Lagos. So if you’re a fan of Sushi or want to try it for the first time, here are some of the places to get Japanese food in Lagos:
Located in Victoria Island, on the top floor of the same building that houses Velvett Bar and Grill formerly Piccolo Mondo (if you know you know), Izanagi offers traditional Japanese food. It’s a little pricey but well worth the funds.

Fun fact: Bonzai may refer to a traditional Japanese exclamation meaning “ten thousand years” of long life. I think that’s a pretty neat name for a restaurant. Bonzai restaurant, also located in Victoria Island is another place that offers Japanese cuisine.
If you ever make it here, their cheese cake is delicious!
Located at Landmark Centre, Shiro is a Pan-Asian restaurant that offers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Mediterranean cuisines. We had an event here and I loved this so much.
Fusion refers to a form of cooking that combines contrasting elements from one culture and uses it to create a meal/dish from another culture. You can be sure to get some interesting meals at this Japanese restaurant in Lagos called Fusion. Also known as Lagoon restaurant housing Churrasco & the Seaside Terrace, they are located on Ozumba Mbadiwe in Victoria Island.
Went here back in 2015 and put down a review here
Would have added Sakura to the list but it seems like they are no more as the address they were at is now occupied by Vanilla Moon.
This restaurant does not offer Japanese cuisines but close enough- Korean/Chinese cuisine. It is located in Ikeja GRA. Read our review here and watch our experience on our Youtube channel on our time at Hua Han here
