Review: Amoke Oge, Bawala

Amoke Oge (Bawala, Lagos) 1, Bawala Street, Pedro| Phone | Instagram As you all know, I’m still on the search for the best Amala in Lagos. This search led me to Amoke Oge, Bawala branch. They have a large space but it can get really hot especially when it’s crowded. Here, there’s a disorganized queue to get amala, another queue for gbegiri, stew, etc even up until payment. MEAL I secured a plate of Amala, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Goat Meat, Ponmo and Fish. The texture of the amala was not smooth. The stew had the right amount of pepper and was […]

Review: Loki by Sycamore, Surulere

Loki by Sycamore (Surulere, Lagos) 53 Iyun Rd, Surulere| Phone | Instagram I decided to check out Loki by Sycamore located at Surulere. The space gives an African like vibe which I liked, there’s a bar area and indoor games. This space would be great for hangouts with friends or family if you’re looking to have fun while eating. By the way, Loki means street, so I was ready to have some street adventure here. MEAL Their menu had a lot of options, I ordered for their Lagos jollof with peppered turkey and a bottle of water, somehow I was […]

Review: Calabar Aroma Restaurant, Lagos

Calabar Aroma Restaurant (Lekki, Lagos) Plot 24 Adebayo Doherty, Road 14| Phone | Instagram One of my food resolutions this year is to try local foods from other tribes. I started by trying out a Calabar dish at Calabar Aroma Restaurant. The space was quite easy to locate and it was a beautiful space. I really did like the set up and touch of colors as well as the outdoor space.   MEAL For a Calabar restaurant, they didn’t really have enough Calabar dishes on the menu. They just had the basic meal every other restaurant would have. I ordered […]

Review: Clay Foodshop, Lekki

Clay Foodshop (Lekki, Lagos) 20A Babatunde Anjous, Lekki Phase 1| Phone | Instagram After a long time of not visiting Clay, I obeyed my cravings and stopped by. It was definitely worth it as their products are still as good as I remember. Their space remains simple and lovely with no dine in spot.   MEAL I ordered one bottle of Tigernut Milk, Masa and Balangu Suya to go. There are other varieties of local/northern food/snacks/drinks and they also have a suya stand. The Tigernut was very milky and rich. I could tell it was freshly made. The Masa was […]

Where to get affordable meals in Yaba

Where to get affordable meals in Yaba, Lagos Still journeying on this cheap eats adventure, I decided to look into more spots in Yaba where they serve affordable meals and I found two places on this day. I began my food-venture at Omoroy Cuisine, Alagomeji- Lagos. It’s a cozy fast food restaurant located in Yaba with cute spots perfect for photos. I tried out a couple of their meals. I had the Red Pasta which I loved. I also had the Jollof and Fried Rice which was quite underwhelming because both meal didn’t quite match the deliciousness of the red […]

New Restaurant: Hanes and Jones

NEW RESTAURANT ALERT (Lekki, Lagos) Hanes and Jones Okunde Bluewater Zone, Lekki | Phone | Instagram Hanes and Jones is an African Artisanal Café that emphasizes African, handcrafted methods and ingredients in preparing and serving their meals. I must commend the ambience, it is a cool and relaxing spot. Funny how I just settled in and placed my order. The wait time for my order was around 20 minutes, and the customer service was excellent. The complimentary smoked chicken crackers was delicious as well as the house bread which was so fresh, soft and served warm. I had the Agbalumo Mocktail […]

Review: Kos Restaurant, Ikate

Kos Restaurant (Ikate, Lagos) 17B Kusenla Rd, Ikate Elegushi| Phone | Instagram I stopped by Kos Restaurant, Lagos and believe me, I had a wonderful experience. The space was easy to locate. I loved how it was calm and lovely. The spot had a mix of African décor and other touches, which I found really beautiful. The lighting in most areas isn’t very great, so you’ll have to strategically position yourself to get quality pictures – for my picture lovers. This spot is good for casual dates and hangouts. It’s serene, and private, and they have board games to keep […]

Visiting Cheap Eats Spots in Shomolu, Lagos I know it is 2024, and you thought I’d stop my Cheap Eats challenge, but never. I have you covered. I thought to explore Shomolu, Onipanu this time. From our most spoken about Amoke Oge to food on the streets, here’s how my adventure went. I thought I should try something else asides the famous Amoke Oge’s Amala and somehow, I think there is a reason their other menu isn’t popularly spoken about. They had a variety of rice so I tried out wo portions of Jollof rice with beef. The rice wasn’t […]

Review: Liquid Hub, Ikoyi

Liquid Hub (Ikoyi, Lagos) 2 Olawale Dawodu Rd, Ikoyi| Phone | Instagram I stopped by a Liquid Hub some days ago. After having their Guinea Fowl the previous night, I thought to try their Amala. Uche (my spot pointer) said most of their things are nice so I decided to give it a shot. I arrived at 4pm and the place was cool and empty. Their space was nice and cozy on this day. I started by ordering a jug of fresh Orange Juice which I really enjoyed. I liked that a separate glass was brought for ice because I […]
