Delis Café Lagos is back, having reopened its doors on the 20th of May. Though, our first visit was in 2016, we had the chance to visit this cozy little spot again on the 11th of June, and let me tell you, it felt different and new. So, if you’ve been missing the good ol’ Delis Café, it’s time you visited again.
The first thing we noticed was the fresh setup of the space. The changes gave it a new, inviting vibe, making us eager to dive into their revamped menu. But hey, before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s talk about our experience with their delicious offerings.
My friend started off with a steaming hot chocolate, but I must say, it left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. For the price, we expected something more, but it was just there.
On the other hand, I opted for their signature Frappuccino, and it did manage to tickle my taste buds. It wasn’t mind-blowing, but it was a refreshing choice for a warm day. However, the real showstopper was the “love you berry much” cocktail. Oh boy, that one was fantastic!
MEAL
Now, let’s talk about the food. I had a fond memory of Delis Café Lagos mashed potatoes from my last visit years ago, so naturally, I ordered it again. While it wasn’t as smooth and creamy as I remembered, it still hit the spot.
The veggies at Delis Café Lagos, unfortunately, had a tangy twist to them, and it seemed like the vinegar wasn’t evenly distributed. We did give them feedback about this, as we believe open communication can help them improve their dishes. On a brighter note, the salmon was cooked to perfection, moist and tender without being overdone.
My friend decided to go for the seafood tagliatelle, with a special request for some extra spice. However, despite the effort to make it fiery, it didn’t quite impress her judging by her facial expressions. While it wasn’t bad, it just didn’t reach the level of satisfaction she was hoping for.
One minor drawback was the waiting time for our meals. It did take a bit longer than expected, but hey, good things come to those who wait, right?
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
All in all, we’re thrilled that Delis Café Lagos has made its grand comeback. It might not have been a flawless experience, but the delicious “love you berry much” cocktail and the perfectly cooked salmon saved the day. We’ll definitely be returning to give their menu another spin and to see how they’ve refined their dishes based on the feedback they received.
