Have you ever found yourself craving a hearty plate of pounded yam? Well, let me share my recent foodie escapade at Ile Iyan Lagos with you.
I was craving locally made pounded yam with efo riro on a Saturday afternoon so I decided to visit Ile Iyan Lagos (The Sannikayz Place), as my friend had recommended them a week prior.
MEAL
I opted for their Aso Ebi combo, which consisted of a satisfying pairing: Efo Ewuro and two wraps of pounded yam. Let me start by saying that the Eforiro was appetizing! It had just the right amount of spice and delivered a taste that left me wanting more. And when it came to the pounded yam, oh boy, it was a masterclass in preparation!
Smooth pounded yam at Ile Iyan
The pounded yam at Ile Iyan Lagos was a dream come true. It was so smooth, without a single lump in sight. With each forkful, my taste buds rejoiced in the perfection of its texture. I couldn’t help but marvel at the skill and expertise that went into creating such a nice textured pounded yam.

Now, let’s talk about the accompaniments. The Eforiro came with Ponmo, goat meat, and liver—all cooked to perfection. The tender Ponmo, succulent goat meat, and melt-in-your-mouth liver added layers of deliciousness to the dish. They were well-seasoned, easy to chew, and complemented the pounded yam beautifully.

One of the highlights of my dining experience was the presentation. The wooden dish added a rustic touch to the meal, taking me to a cozy village setting. But what truly caught my attention was the unique touch of wrapping the pounded yam in a local leaf. It added an extra layer of flavor and gave the entire meal a distinct and authentic taste that I absolutely loved.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I was impressed with the overall experience and would love to visit again. If you find yourself craving a unique pounded yam experience, I highly recommend checking out Ile Iyan Lagos.
