Tilapia & Tinz Restaurant, (Ikeja, Lagos)

Tilapia N Tinz is a signature African restaurant in Oduduwa Crescent, Ikeja. It’s an artsy and picturesque space with African art on the walls and ludo game tables outside, and a lounge feels on the inside. The art is very striking and attractive. Tilapia and Tinz serve local bar meals such as pepper soup, grills, small chops, and more.
MEAL
I ordered the Crocker fish with boli. It was a medium-sized grilled croaker fish with two pieces of grilled plantain and spicy sauce. My wait time for this was an hour. The fish was seasoned with some spicy palm oil sauce. It was grilled properly, but the seasoning didn’t go all the way inside the fish, so everything aside from the skin of the fish was bland. One of the plantains was rock solid; I couldn’t get a fork through, and I couldn’t eat it.
Spring Rolls
The spring rolls were patterned after the traditional Nigerian spring rolls. It was crispy; it had fresh carrots and cabbage inside. It came with a spicy palm oil-based sauce that was inching close to Ofada sauce. The spice was really hot; I consider it more suitable for rice.
Chapman
The chapman was just okay. It tasted more like fanta and grenadine syrup. It could have been better.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
Overall Experience for me is 6/1o. The food could be better. They need to pay more attention to customers’ tastebuds and offer spice options.
