If you’re in Lekki and in the mood for something local, chill, and satisfying, Taeyaz Kitchen is one place you might want to check out.
I found out about Taeyaz from another creator on Instagram and once I saw Banga, I knew I would be checking it out since the review was good. It’s a small restaurant, neat and cozy with a calm atmosphere that’s perfect if you’re looking for a quiet evening bite. It also is quite coded because there is no signage that lets you know its there.
It’s simple and relaxed with clean interiors. There is an outdoor space with wooden benches under palm trees, perfect for enjoying a quiet evening meal. There is also a nice sized pool as the restaurant is attached to a Condomonium

For starters, I tried their complimentary spring rolls, they were crisp on the outside; just how I like them. The dipping sauce was a pepper sauce which was quite nice and was a solid start in terms of first impressions
Next up was the Smoked Chicken Village Rice – Basmati Rice steamed in a spicy Rodo and smoked Chicken sauce, boiled egg, garnished with ponmo, smoked fish, and scent leaf. Flavor-wise, it was really good, slightly spicy, and the taste was rich. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Its definitely something I would order again.
The Banga Soup with Catfish & Starch was my top dish. The starch was stretchy, smooth, and lump-free. The banga soup itself was flavorful and spicy. The catfish? Big, soft, and cooked just right. I couldn’t even finish it in one go and had to take the rest home to finish it off.

To wash it all down, I tried their Zobo mocktail and this was given on the house. Visually, it looked great, served chilled, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, not a bad way to end the meal.
If you love local dishes and you’re looking for a quiet spot to enjoy them, Taeyaz Kitchen is worth checking out. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and it’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home.
I will definitely return, especially for that Banga soup. We also got Asun Pasta which was given to me by the Chef as she mentioned its one of their best sellers and I tried this the day after and it was amazing!
