The Metaphor Lagos
78A Younis Bashorun Street, Off Ajose Adeogun, VI
First post of the year! Happy new year guys and hope the new year is all and more!
The Metaphor Lagos is the latest entrant into the dining and social spaces in Lagos. Though still in pre-launch phase, the space has been quite busy lately and has had some themed dining experiences for diners to get used to before a proper launch sometime next month. Located in an old VI House, the 80’s décor and style are maintained. Went for a little tour and I liked how the garage was converted to a bar with old legal books. Its so pretty in person (sorry picture quality isn’t that great). The interior, ambience at the Metaphor was so well thought through but we all know the food quality is really the most important thing. View the gallery below for more pictures
Now on the food, being a pre-launch menu the options at the Metaphor was not a lot and was just kept simple to 4 different types of small plates, one platter and 7 options for mains. You can view the pre-launch menu for the Metaphor here.
I went with the platter to just have a variety of what was available and a glass of coca cola.
On the Platter: Steak Bruschetta, Chicken Wings, Grilled Calamari, Fries and a Mixed Salad for ₦8,000.
This was a first time having the Steak Bruschetta and the Metaphor did quite well with this. Bruschetta is essentially Italian bread and usually served with tomatoes/garlic.
The Salad though simple was really good and besides the Steak Bruschetta being the best part of the platter for me, the Salad comes in at second place. In 3rd place will be the Calamari and 4th place the chicken wings as the last fave from the platter. Just to add, on the mains the price range is from ₦3,000 – ₦6,000 while all the small plates are ₦3,000.
The service was also a bit slow but not going to fault the Metaphor for this as it is not properly launched yet and I hope they take all the feedback they possibly can to have an awesome launch and running phase.
All in all, it was a good experience at the Metaphor and looking forward to when it is fully opened and the space well and fully utilized.
