Encanto Lagos is the new Mexican restaurant in Lagos and you know I had to check it out. If you’ve lived in Lagos long enough, you’ll remember Bottles. But now, there’s a new spot trying to fill that guacamole-sized hole in my heart. So of course, I took my Osmo Pocket 3 and set out to find out – is this the real deal or another Instagram trap?
As I pulled up, I noticed the place looked familiar. It used to be Scarlet Lodge, but now the poolside space has been transformed into a colorful, vibey Mexican spot. The indoor space is just as lovely, think wooden chairs, rustic finishes, super cute ambiance and the kind of lighting that makes you want to snap a million pictures for the ‘Gram.
It felt like somewhere you’d want to hang out with friends on a Thursday night over margaritas and soft tacos.
We were served a set menu, so no choosing today – just vibes. Here’s what we had:
Quesadilla Gringa
Tacos Chilangos
Steak Fajitas
Margaritas in all the flavors — strawberry, mango, pickley jalapeño (yes, really), and classic.
Let me tell you, the drinks came out so frozen, the poor waitress was low-key struggling. Brain freeze aside, they were really good, not super strong though so you might need to ask for a shot if you like your drinks loud.
They gave us complimentary chips and a green sauce that I thought was guac. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. It was super tangy, the lemon was lemon-ing, but honestly? Not bad at all. The chips tasted like packaged chips, but it was still crunchy and fresh.
When the quesadillas landed on the table wow! Cheese pulling, meat juicy, and flavors balanced. I tried one with a mystery sauce (I still don’t know what it was), and I didn’t even care. It slapped.
Then came the chicken tacos. Flavorful, but a bit dry for me until I added salsa. Then it really came to life. Not chewy, which I liked. Also, they weren’t shy with the onions, so if you’re not an onion person… be warned.
Now this is where things got serious. The steak was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. Paired with warm, soft bread, guac, cream, and salsa… it was giving “Mexico in my mouth.” I was so excited, I wrapped it all up like a messy burrito and dived in. So worth it.
Encanto really impressed me. From the vibe to the food, it felt like a legit Mexican experience – something Lagos has been missing for a while. Is it perfect? Not quite. But if you’re craving tacos, margaritas, and something fresh and fun, I’d definitely recommend giving this spot a try.
