I’m not quite sure how this place has been hiding in plain sight, but I finally stopped by Flaky’s Kitchen for lunch after seeing it float around online, and I left wondering why I waited this long. The space is easy to miss, but the food told a different story.
It’s a simple spot. Not trying to impress with decor, but it’s clean, calm, and the staff are very attentive. I went at lunchtime and there was no wait. Service was quick.
I started with the Spicy Spare Ribs and Steamed Pork Dumplings. The ribs were tender and well-seasoned. They had just enough heat. The dumplings came in hot and were soft with a nice, savoury filling. No complaints here.
This came next and paired well with the rice. The sauce had a rich depth, and the beef was tender without being chewy. A very decent portion too.
I added this in to balance out the meal. The broccoli still had some crunch and the vegetables were fresh. It added colour to the plate and didn’t feel like a throwaway side.
This came in a small size (even though the waiter suggested medium) but I was surprised at how generous it was. Well-seasoned, not oily, and it had enough bits of meat and egg to make each bite interesting. I couldn’t even finish it.
This one was my favourite. It was saucy, flavourful, and packed with a good mix of meats. I kept going back to it even while eating everything else. Definitely something I’d order again.
Everything came out fresh and steaming hot. Portion sizes were great and the pricing was reasonable for the quality. I genuinely enjoyed the meal.
If you’re looking for proper Chinese food in Lekki without the crowd or wait times, this is one to keep in mind. Be sure to send your reviews my way when you visit!
I would definitely be going back for the noodles.
