Okonkwo by Papiees (Yaba, Lagos)

Okonkwo by Papiees is a South-Eastern restaurant in the heart of Lagos that serves traditional dishes, all sorts of swallows, and native soups with any type of beef/fish and the likes to go with them.

The atmosphere at Okonkwo by Papiees is more of a laid-back lounge with outdoor seating. Sometimes, you could see a few individuals working and charging their phones at the spot.

Okonkwo by Papiees also has another location in Abuja
MEAL
I stopped by because I wanted to eat Pounded Yam and Ofe Nsala, but they had no pounded Yam available. They had other swallow options available like Semovita, but my plus one was a proper Igbo woman who believes it’s a crime to pair Ofe Nsala soup with anything other than pounded yam. I ended up settling for Catfish pepper soup as my alternative, and the wait for my meal was approximately 43 minutes; I guess they were preparing it from scratch.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I enjoyed my meal and experience. If you prefer a more relaxed and comfortable dining experience, I recommend ordering their meals off platforms like Chowdeck or Jumia. Hopefully, next time I stop by, they will have Pounded Yam and Ofe Nsala soup available.
