Affordable spots to get proteins in Eleganza, Lekki
When we talk about street food in Lagos, majority would assume we speak of “Iya Basira”, or some cool spot by the road where “Ewa Agoyin” is sold. Here, when we talk street food, we talk street food. In that spirit, I took a stroll all-round Eleganza in Lekki, and found some spots where mini proteins are sold. Mini protiens? Well, yes. “Meat that’s meat, but doesn’t measure up to the amount of meat you’d eat on a regular”. It’s not a hot bowl of Nkwobi, or cow legs swimming in soup, but it works. Anyways, to the main deal, my street food in Lekki adventure.
First, I stopped to buy Asun at a spot right after Eleganza bus-stop. I got 5 pieces of Asun, and that cost me ₦1,200. The vendor of the Asun is popularly known as Jacob in that area. The Asun was spicy and soft, but he wasn’t generous with his portion and I know this because I had gotten Asun from another vendor the previous week for ₦1,000. It was quite much. My rating for this Asun is a 6/10, fair enough. Adventure street food in Eleganza down by one point.
Next on street food menu was chicken legs “ese adiye”, I had childhood flashback when I got to the spot and couldn’t wait to try it. However, my expectation was cut short. I spent ₦1,000 to get Feet: ₦150, Neck: ₦100, Body: ₦200, Drumstick: ₦500. These things used to me so, so cheap, but that’s not the point. The chicken wasn’t thoroughly boiled, so it tasted super undone, raw. It was red because of the sauce used but that’s all there was to it. What a waste!
My street food in Eleganza wasn’t worth it, Eleganza has to make up for this.
