There is a new cafe in Victoria Island, and they may have just served me one of the best matcha drinks I have had in Lagos. This is Cafe Blu, located inside Blue Rock on Kofo Abayomi Street and before I even looked at the menu, I was already sold. Because the first thing that hit me when I walked in? The smell. I know that sounds like a random thing to lead with, but this space smells genuinely amazing. It is one of those details that is hard to explain but impossible to ignore, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
My friend and I stopped by for lunch, and as usual, we ordered a little bit of everything.
Cafe Blu is owned by the same team behind Dulce Cafe. The space is cozy and well put together – warm pendant lighting, a stunning green living wall, and a beautiful poolside area visible through floor-to-ceiling glass. It is the kind of environment that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Whether you are coming for matcha, a full meal, a work session, or simply catching up with friends — this place earns it.

An espresso-based drink with brown sugar and cinnamon syrup. This was fantastic — sweet, creamy, and beautifully balanced. It is the kind of drink that makes you understand why people become regulars. Honestly one of my favourite things I had. The presentation alone is worth it — topped with a toasted brown sugar crust that makes it look as good as it tastes.
This one completely surprised me. Layered beautifully in the glass — matcha green sitting above a creamy mango base, topped with frothy milk foam. If you have been curious about matcha but not sure where to start, this might actually be your gateway. The mango works with the matcha in a way that feels fresh natural rather than forced. It is good. I repeat really good.
Six pieces, juicy, properly coated in sauce, and well seasoned throughout. Served on a beautiful blue patterned ceramic plate with shredded purple cabbage. Simple but very well executed — a solid starter.
I asked them to increase the spice level, and they understood the assignment. Served with sliced grilled chicken on top and a twisted garlic bread on the side, the penne sat in a rich, well-seasoned arrabbiata sauce. The heat was present without overpowering the flavour. I really enjoyed it.
My friend’s order – and it looked like a meal that couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. Eggs, brioche French toast dusted with icing sugar, sausages, potato wedges, fresh berries, hollandaise, and maple syrup — all on one generous plate. It was a perfect balance between breakfast and brunch, especially if you are someone who likes a little bit of everything.

Cafe Blu describes itself as an all day kitchen and bar, and the menu backs that up. Beyond what we ordered, they have an extensive national menu covering soups, rice dishes, salads, sandwiches, and more. There is something for every kind of visit – whether you come for a quick coffee or a full sit-down meal.
I had a really good experience at Cafe Blu Lagos. The space is beautiful, the lighting is great, customer service was solid, and most importantly, the food and drinks delivered. The Mango Matcha alone is worth the trip. If you are looking for a cafe in Lagos that works for breakfast dates, work sessions, coffee runs, matcha cravings, or simply catching up with your friends — this is one to add to your list.
Cafe Blu is a welcome addition to the Victoria Island cafe scene. The space is warm and inviting, the menu has strong options across drinks and food, and the Mango Matcha is genuinely one of the best things I have had at a Lagos cafe in a while. The Iced Brown Sugar Cloud is equally worth ordering. If you have not been yet, this is your sign
