
Food means different things to different tribes, and most of the tribes take pride in displaying their best meals, hence the food festivals in states and countries. New Yam Festival, mostly called Iri Ji by the locals of the Eastern part and Middle belt of Nigeria is held around late August into October of every year to celebrate the end of a harvest. At this festival, you would see yams in different styles; cooked, boiled, and roasted with sauce. It aids the Nigerian adage, ‘no matter how hot your temper is; it can’t boil yam.
