Review: Breadline Café, Ogudu

Breadline Café (Ogudu, Lagos) 38A Ogudu Road| Phone | Instagram This might just be the most affordable breakfast spot on the mainland. I checked out Breadline Café because I heard of their breakfast menu. Their space is quite small and lovely. However, it is mostly packed with people because it’s also a work space and WiFi is available. To use the space to work, there’s a fee of ₦2,500 for 6 hours, I think it is quite reasonable. MEAL This is mainly a breakfast spot. They have snacks like pastries, smoothies, grills, finger food, etc. I had their English Breakfast […]

Review: Ashabi Licking Fingers Food, Ketu

Ashabi Licking Fingers Food (Ketu, Lagos) Aladelola Street, Off Ikosi Road, Ikosi Ketu| Phone | Instagram This is a popular bukka in the streets of Ketu. A couple of you recommended this spot for the best Àbùlà in town, so I decided to check it out. Their space is quite small for the kind of traffic they get. One thing I’ll commend them for-the staff here were really friendly and cheerful MEAL Their space is quite small for the kind of traffic they get. Review: Edaolaropin Food Embassy- Mulika in Oshodi

Edaolaropin Food Embassy- Mulika (Oshodi, Lagos) 1 Agbelekale st, Mafoluku Oshodi| Phone | Instagram While I’m still on the hunt for the best Amala in Lagos, I found a hidden Amala spot on the mainland called Mulika. They had only a few meals ready when I got there, but I had my eyes on Amala because that is the goal. MEAL I got Amala, Ewedu, Assorted meat and Beef, I was set to dive in. The Amala was good, it had a smooth texture with no lumps. The stew was tasty but was missing that spicy kick which didn’t do […]

Review: Amala Tax Office, Surulere

Amala Tax Office(Surulere, Lagos) 13/15 Olubunmi Alonge St, Ijesha Tedo| Phone | Instagram I took the advice of a couple of you and decided to try the Abula at this spot. If you visit, be prepared for queues – whether it’s for Amala, gbegiri, stew, ewedu, proteins, or even at the payment counter. MEAL The place is quite cramped and hot, so I don’t recommend dining in. Moving on to what I ordered; the Amala was well made with almost no lump in sight. The stew was quite spicy but not flavorful, it tasted like plain pepper. Overall, it was […]

Some Street Food in Lagos

Street Food in Lagos For my first street food, I stopped by Super Suya, also known as Akerele Suya; a budget friendly Suya spot in surulere. Many claim it’s one of the best in town, so trust me to check it out. It’s not the regular table stand type of suya spot and it’s easy to find because it is just by the road side. Down to it, the attendants are friendly and cheerful and the space is quite clean and comfortable. It’s a grab and go spot; no chairs. I opted for the big Suya stick on their menu […]

Review: Tank and Tummy, VI

Tank and Tummy (VI, Lagos) Plot 31 & 32 Chief Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Road| Phone | Instagram I think I might have found the cheapest Restaurant at VI. I visited Tank and Tummy Restaurant for lunch because I heard that it is an OG spot and a new branch was opened in Victoria Island. For starters, I like their space; it is serene, lovely and calm. MEAL They had quite a number of Nigerian food and protein options when I visited, but I settled for one portion of Pasta and Turkey. The Pasta was savory and delicious. The portion was […]

Practicing Wellness

Practical steps to Wellness in Lagos Lagos is quite a chaotic city, we would agree and whether or not you like it, the stress sometimes gets to you. That isn’t enough? Every street and corner you turn has over five food stands and restaurants. So, your calorie intake and stress level doubles up. What then can you do to stay well Wellness goes beyond the gym and if you know Lagos enough, you would have seen a person drive 10 minutes to the gym, and grab a burger after working out, what then is all of the workout for and […]

New Restaurant Alert: The Beach by Gusto, Lagos

NEW RESTAURANT ALERT (Oniru, Lagos) The Beach by Gusto, Lagos  10b Trinity Avenue Oniru| Phone | Instagram The beach by Gusto, Lagos is a new beachside restaurant in Lagos. They have an indoor & outdoor area for dining, Cabanas and a swimming pool. I tried a couple of items on their menu and here’s my thoughts.     The wait time for my order was pretty short about 10-15 minutes, and the customer service was excellent. The wait staff who attended to me was clearly well trained and very competent. I had the calamari Provençal and shrimp cocktail for appetizers; […]

Review: Angelos Cafe, Lekki

Review: Bira’s Place Restaurant, Alagomeji

Bira’s Place (Alagomeji, Lagos) Industrial Avenue, Sabo| Phone | Instagram Bira’s place recently open at Alagomeji and I just had to go check it out on this hot wednesday. It was a lengthy stair climb, but I found a mirror before going into the space and that might be a plus for mirror picture lovers. The space was generously decorated with artifical flowers and inscriptions with some drawings. I must mention that it is spacious and there was this part of the space that had ballons and was yet to be open. I would say it was the lounge. Let […]
