Ibile Foods Summary

My friend had told me about Ibile foods’ Amala and since I had spent most of 2024 doing an Amala Tour looking for the best Amala in Lagos, It was only right I checked this out as the other spot I had gone to for Amala in Lekki was rather disappointing. When we visited Ibile Foods, their designated outdoor spot for Amala called ‘Akanke Alamala’ was not yet ready for dining so we had our meal within the normal restaurant space. After hearing plenty of quiet whispers (and a few loud praises) about their Amala magic, I finally stopped by. And wow, I didn’t just eat — I experienced.
Located on Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1, Ibile Foods doesn’t try to be fancy and that’s the beauty of it. It’s got that Lagos *fancy* street food charm – straightforward but packed with flavor and soul. You come here for the food, the aroma in the air, the slight hustle-bustle to serve your meal, and that ever-present Amala steam rising from the pot.
There’s something about a dining spot that focuses less on aesthetics and more on taste — and Ibile Foods delivers.

I went straight for the Akanke Alamala’s classic combo: Amala with Gbegiri, Ewedu, and assorted meat for ₦6,000. From the moment the plate landed, I could tell this would bang. It came correct.
The Amala – Soft, warm, and that perfect stretchy consistency. You know the type that doesn’t break mid-scoop? Yeah, that one.
Gbegiri – Thick, smooth, seasoned just right
Ewedu – Light but flavourful, adding the perfect balance to all that richness.
Assorted meat – FIVE full pieces plus one pomo. Well-cooked, juicy, and packed with that real buka taste.
I washed it all down with a bottle of Belani’s fresh orange Juice, and listen… This wasn’t the usual “orange-flavored sugar water.” It tasted and smelt freshly squeezed. No additives just orange
9/10, no hesitation.
This is the kind of meal that makes you pause mid-bite, close your eyes, and nod like you’re hearing a good tune. It’s rich, it’s comforting, it’s real Lagos food. Perfect for a late lunch, midnight craving, or post-party refuel (they’re open 24/7!).
Would I go back? Absolutely.
